www.HowStuffWorks.com showcases Caterpillar equipment
HowStuffWorks.com has recently added four sections to its award-winning web site with the help of content, graphics and photos from Caterpillar, Inc. Written by Karim Nice, a former Caterpillar design engineer and current senior editor of automotive and mechanical technology for HowStuffWorks, with the help of Jeff Lind, e-commerce team leader for the building-construction products division of Caterpillar, the four educational sections are:
* How Caterpillar skid-steer loaders work;
* How Caterpillar backhoe loaders work;
* How Caterpillar makes Challenger agricultural tractors; and
* How NASCAR racecars work.
Of special interest to the landscaping market is the section on skid steers. In simple, direct language, the section focuses on:
* What it can do;
* Drive system;
* The powertrain;
* The loader;
* Work tools; and
* Building the skid-steer loader.
Also included in the section is a 360-degree machine "walk-around" and a cab "look-around," plus dozens of photos, videos and animation clips, as well as links to other Caterpillar sites of interest.
